Greg Gibson

Principal

Greg Gibson is Principal and Director of Operations of the firm, focusing on the day-to-day staffing and management of all of the projects in the office. Greg excels in the execution of projects from design through realization and thrives on the investigation, technical coordination, systems integration, and overall aesthetics of design. Greg conducts the orchestra that designs and builds buildings. This role requires teamwork and collaboration with specialists and staff, creative problem solving skills, as well as an understanding of the economic parameters and real-world schedules that are integral to successful projects. Greg’s dedication and focus have earned him both the professional respect and personal friendship of his clients, colleagues, and peers.

From 2003 to 2011, Greg was a project architect at Wilkinson Blender Architecture, working closely with both partners on a range of assignments. During that time, in addition to his role as an architect, Greg assumed the position of construction manager with the firm’s general contracting division. His time spent building grew his extensive field experience and allowed for a refined understanding of the type of information that needs to be communicated to tradesman, fabricators, and contractors in order to convey intent and execute design. We believe this design-savvy-meets-construction-credibility is the combination that leads to good architecture.

In 2012, Greg accepted a position in the Chicago office of Gensler as project architect working on several corporate headquarters and hospitality projects and by 2014 was promoted to associate. In early 2016, he left to reconnect with Michael Wilkinson, this time as his partner.

Greg received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati. Greg has spent recent years as a volunteer leading a team of designers in their efforts to rehabilitate dilapidated tutoring rooms in Chicago Public Schools. Greg is a registered architect in Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He lives in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago with his wife and son.
