Catie Truong

Associate Principal

Catie Truong is the Associate Principal responsible for management, design, and documentation of projects in the office. Beyond experience in traditional architectural practices, Catie has worked for developers and construction management companies, giving her insight into the world of some of our clients and contractors. She subscribes to the “Less Is More” design approach in general, believing that simple formal design solutions are often-times the best.  She has an eye for detail, and is dedicated to the practice of pragmatic and intentional architecture.

Before joining Level, Catie was a project architect on a variety of single and multi-family residential projects in Chicago with several acclaimed Chicago architecture firms. She spent several years in the aviation design market, working with airline clients including United Airlines. She has been deeply involved in a wide variety of technically sophisticated and programmatically complicated projects. These experiences have sharpened her technical abilities and design process and have made her an extremely effective problem solver.

Catie received her Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Throughout her graduate studies, she was a research assistant on various projects, most notably working on the Great Lakes Watershed with the current Director of Urban Design, María Arquero de Alarcón. Catie was also selected to work with a team of professors and students to develop the conceptual design of the Ypsilanti Rec Center which later earned recognition in several local publications including the Ann Arbor Chronicle and MarkMaynard.com. With a passion for art, Catie explores her creativity through a variety of media. She enjoys experimentation with digital media, drawing, cartooning, painting, and fabrication.
