Amelia Tabeling

Associate Principal

Amelia Tabeling is an Associate Principal and Project Architect, responsible for day-to-day management, design, and documentation of one or more projects in the office. Amelia is an integral part of the firm given her background as a technical architect and an experienced leader in BIM (Building Information Modeling), a software which enables coordination of designs at an extremely high and efficient level. In addition to this specialization in software and digital collaboration, Amelia is also a gifted designer, organized manager, and thoughtful communicator. She believes in using the right tools to provide excellence and consistency in process, product, and design.

Prior to joining Level in June 2016, Amelia spent a year drawing and developing the cinemas, galleries, and public spaces for a high-profile museum project in Chicago. From 2010 to 2015, Amelia was a technical designer and an associate at Gensler working on higher education projects, office fit-outs, design proposals, and a multi-block, urban corporate headquarters project. She applies organization and delivery methods learned on these projects to each aspect of her work.

Amelia received her Master of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University. She has taught first year design studio at the University of Illinois at Chicago as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Amelia is a registered architect in Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Dedicated to engaging with art and culture, she has volunteered at Extension Gallery for Architecture, interned in the Department of Architecture and Design at The Art Institute of Chicago, and while at Gensler, led the Chicago arm of a firm-wide research project exploring audience engagement at museums. She enjoys following current exhibitions and discovering new, art-related experiences.
