In this complete renovation of a classic Chicago brick two-flat into a single family home, care was taken to preserve the best vintage components of the building, while updating and modernizing the interior to fit the needs of the family. Traditional elements such as the leaded glass front bay window, the front door, and porch were maintained and refurbished. The rear of the house opens up to a more contemporary expression, with large expanses of glass and zinc metal shingles as cladding. The glass openings bring in views of the garden and carport pavilion which doubles as an outdoor dining area.
