HYDE PARK COTTAGE

This quaint cottage located near the Midway Plaisance was built just prior to the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. Originally built as a vacation area for Chicagoans looking to escape the dirt and smell of the time, this unique Hyde Park street is now occupied by full time professors, students, and families.

The ornate original character of the exterior of the building was maintained and repaired while the interior was completely gutted and renovated in a minimalist aesthetic. The modern sunroom off the rear of the house and a detached carport are the only hints of the modern expression within.
